13 LETTERS: Dear Bastard

Rated 8.0 out of 10
June 2, 2023

What if your Ex/Exes decide to write you letter(s) and won’t have it delivered to you but on the public media space? You get shock absorber abi yawa go gas?

I am not so worked up about movies, exactly why I’m seeing 13 LETTERS – a 2021 movie in 2023. You may not find much favourable reviews out there but here’s mine.

A boy, Akinola Owolabi watched his mom die on the sick bed, on this same sick bed, the father took an oath never to remarry because he ‘loved’ the wife so much. But barely a week after, there’s a new love if his life.

Seeing this, the boy grew up with the idea that LOVE NA SCAM; he (Kunle Remi) became a ‘point and kill’ kind of person, typical Yoruba demon. Being rich, he earned the name ‘Owoblow’ for Owolabi. He toys with emotions like he has none, he had perished the idea of marrying someone. He sticks to periodical friends with benefits game and when they leave him, he moves to the next one in a jiffy.

He lost count of how many escapades he’s had, was he even keeping a record? But nemesis would catch up with him when he eventually messed with the wrong one. The same day he broke up with **** his pictures and videos went viral with another soon to be ‘victim’.

Irked by this, **** sent a letter, not to be delivered to his personal mail but to be ready across social media. The ‘culprit’ didn’t even know because his latest catch robbed him carting away his phone after their one night stand.

It was as if the train of ***’s exes were waiting for just this letter, he started receiving his letters in public with different shades of curses.

He wasn’t moved initially by the first letter and his sister, Ade (Adedamola Adewole) became his information officer tormenting him with updates.

We would have pitied him but he intentionally developed a pink thong strategy to end things with his victims – a story common amongst the exes. He’d put the thong somewhere they can see it. Of course, who would trust a man he found another lady’s thong in his house? Not you, I guess.

He was a ‘celebrity’ on radio, TV and he became the face of #DearBastard on social media. This also cost him his position in his father’s multi-million naira company.

His exes even formed an association, hosted a party where they had to pin his image thinking he’d be affected in real life.

His eyes however, got clear when he got a taste of his own medicine. One Ewa (Bimbo Ademoye) employed to do an image saving job was actually the handwork of **** the ex that started his letter trend.

Ewa did him a dose of Saro’s medicine tasted in Aníkúlápó. Oh, it was Arolake and Saro, now Ewa and ….will Kunle Remi stop Playing into Bimbo Ademoye’s hands and will the later for once be fair to the former? LoL.

He played into Ewa’s hands, loved up and got thrashed in return, only to discover the set up.

Beyond the drama, we can say parental role in the formative stage of a child is vital, we could also say that you have a choice of what could make or mar you.

I am not a fan of movies but 13 LETTERS has more than you can see
