Athens to Host Nollywood Travel Film Festival 2023

Following the huge success of the Nollywood travel film festival in Athens, Greece in 2022, the lively and illustrious city is slated to host Africa’s most important and premier travel film festival once more, where Nollywood films are screened to individuals from different races, cultures, and backgrounds.

This year’s edition will hold from May 7-14, 2023, with the theme; The Future is Nollywood.

The Nollywood Travel Film Festival is a singular initiative with a strategic focus on opening up new markets for Nigerian cinema by showcasing films by Nigerians who are currently residing all over the world.

Her Excellency  The Nigerian ambassador to Greece, Opunimi Akinkugbe, said: “We are extremely happy that the discussions between the Greek and Nigerian film industries are becoming more in-depth, and we anticipate the Nollywood Travel Film Festival’s enormous success in 2023. We appreciate Mr. Parish’s efforts in bridging the two film sectors. Fostering Cultural connections between Nigerians and Greeks remain a priority for our goal.”

Mr. Parish has also received praise from H.E. Ioannis Plotas, the Greek ambassador to Nigeria, for his unselfish efforts to strengthen the cultural ties between our two nations. “I want to thank you for taking this kind of step, and we want to reassure you that the embassy is always available to assist you in boosting not only our nation but also our overall bilateral relations. The cultural linkages between our nations are a necessary component for that. I appreciate you traveling to Greece to host the Nollywood Travel Film Festival”.

The NTFF was established in 2017 in Toronto, Canada, and has held events in 12 cities worldwide.
