ARC XTRA Studios has released the first-look images for 'Leila', its debut feature film, offering an initial glimpse of the psychological thriller centred on a young woman's growing dependence on an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant.
The film follows Esiri, an introverted young woman whose life changes after she encounters an AI assistant named Leila. Initially, the technology provides companionship and a sense of connection, but her relationship with the assistant gradually develops into an unhealthy dependence.
As Esiri becomes increasingly reliant on Leila, she begins to withdraw from her surroundings, putting her personal relationships and ability to navigate everyday life at risk. The film examines the consequences of emotional attachment to AI and the potential impact of technology on human relationships.
Through Esiri's experience, 'Leila' explores themes of loneliness, isolation, human connection and the growing role of artificial intelligence in everyday life. The thriller places these issues within the context of a personal relationship between a user and a technology designed to provide assistance and companionship.
