Dumelo's educational journey began at Christ the King School in Accra. He later continued his studies at Achimota School, where he actively participated in the Drama Club and received the Fliers Guy in Mo-TOWN prize. Following this, he pursued Civil Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he also claimed victory in the "Mr. University" competition.
Expanding his academic horizons, Dumelo enrolled in GIMPA's School of Public Service and Governance. Meanwhile, his acting career took root in the early 1990s with his appearance in the 1992 film "Baby Thief," while he was still attending Christ the King School. Remarkably, at the tender age of 7, he earned 20 thousand old Ghana Cedis (now equivalent to 2 Ghana Cedis).
Beyond the realm of acting, Dumelo is recognized as an entrepreneur. In 2012, he launched his clothing line, J.Melo, and has since ventured into both crop and animal farming, showcasing his diverse interests and pursuits.
